Crayfish Scavenger Hunt

Goal:

• Students will navigate through specified websites to identify and explain a crayfish’s structures and functions, while completing a Kidspiration web to be used as a study guide in preparation of the end of module exam.

Introduction:

• You have been asked to review information gathered and organize it to create a study guide for you to use. Your assignment is to review the questions and diagram relating to the crayfish. Navigate through the website hyperlinks below (crayfish image ) and gather the information needed to answer the questions and label the diagram. Remember to be thinking of what you want to know and show in your web outline while searching on these sites.

Task:

We have been working and observing characteristics and structures of a living organism, the crayfish.

1. You will be investigating several web sites dealing with the characteristics and functions of the crayfish and researching for answers.
2. Your job is to review the questions and diagram relating to the crayfish. Search through the website hyperlinks provided and gather the information needed to answer the questions and label the diagram. Remember to be thinking of what you want other fourth graders need to know about the crayfish in order to complete a Venn-diagram that will include all the important information, which can be used as a study guide.
3. Be able to label and explain the parts and functions of a crayfish diagram using a Smartboard.

Process:

1. This is where you will begin your journey in the fact finding mission.

2. Use the “Crayfish Q & A Sheet” to gather information.

3. Make sure you control & click on each crayfish below and check each website carefully to answer the Q & A sheet.

4. Control + click on each image to lead you to the websites to find information about the crayfish.

5. Once you’ve arrived at the site, read through the information and answer the questions and complete the diagram.

6. Make sure you read each website carefully and follow additional links to more information that may help you answer the questions with more details.

Evaluation: You will be graded on the following: 

• Your completed question sheet and labeled diagram.
• Complete Kidspiration Web diagram identifying the structures and functions of the crayfish.

Conclusion:

• Now that you have completed your fact finding journey, you have gathered enough information to have a study guide to create a Kidspiration Web as a study guide for the end of module exam for any fourth grader to use.
